The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), led by Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, has issued a directive banning all contestants and members from placing campaign materials such as flyers, banners, stickers, or images at the Quay Apron, Port Terminals, Jetties, Oil & Gas platforms, onboard vessels, and Union offices nationwide.

The announcement was made in a press release signed by Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Head of Media, MWUN, over the weekend.

The Union emphasized that while it acknowledges the right of every member to participate in or contest the Union’s elective positions, it is crucial for all members and contestants to follow the Union’s rules.

They are urged to avoid campaigns based on bitterness and to maintain discipline, peace, and decorum within the Union.

The release also stated that the Union will take strict action against any member or contestant who violates this directive, stressing that the Union will not compromise its peaceful standing for the sake of election campaigns.
