NNPP warns Kwankwaso, Galadima over MoU termination

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has formally reminded the Kwankwasiya Group and The National Movement (TNM) of the expiration of their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the party, which ended in 2023.

In a letter dated March 20, 2025, titled “Reminder: Notice of Withdrawal from MoU,” the NNPP emphasized the need for Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and Elder Buba Galadima to respect the agreement’s termination.

Copies of the letter were also sent to the Inspector General of Police and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The letter, jointly signed by NNPP’s Board of Trustees Chairman, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, and National Chairman, Dr. Agbo Major, reiterated that the MoU was a temporary arrangement that allowed the Kwankwasiya Movement and TNM to use the party’s platform for the 2023 presidential elections, in which Kwankwaso emerged as the party’s candidate.

Following the election, the agreement was formally terminated in July 2023.

However, NNPP noted that despite this, members of the groups continued to act as part of the party, leading to the expulsion of some individuals for anti-party activities.

The letter read in part: “Please refer to our earlier letter of 28/7/2023, wherein we, the NNPP, duly communicated to you our withdrawal from the Memorandum of Understanding previously entered into by you—the Kwankwasiya Group—and the NNPP.”

“It has, however, come to our notice that you are still holding yourselves out as an integral part of the NNPP membership and leadership.”

The party warned against what it described as “fraudulent and misleading actions,” stating that as of July 28, 2023, control of the NNPP had fully reverted to its original founders and leaders.

It further advised the groups to refrain from misleading the public, urging them to comply with the formal termination of the agreement.
