ODHA Assures OAUSTECH Of Timely Intervention To Delayed Monthly Subvention

Ondo State House of Assembly has assured Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa of its timely intervention to the delayed monthly subvention of the institution.
The Chairman, House Committee on Tertiary Institutions, Hon. Chris Ayebusiwa gave this assurance while leading other committee members on a familiarization visit to Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa on Thursday.
He pointed that the committee would ensure that subvention is released in line with the approved budget from the House of Assembly, try its best to make necessary recommendations and meet relevant stakeholders.
“The committee shall do its best in meeting relevant stakeholders to resolve the issue of encroachment of the university land by the host community.
“The House shall encourage an alternative dispute resolution within the shortest possibile time”.
While pledging to help the institution achieve its desired goals, especially the possibility of harnessing the coastline for the blue economy, Ayebusiwa told the management of the institution not to hesitate to knock on the door of the Assembly when the needs arises.
Ayebusiwa who commended the efforts of the Vice Chancellor of the institution towards promoting the image of the university also urged him to continue to maintain a good relationship between the institution and the host community.
Other members encouraged the V C to ensure that the institution have enough facility to aid learning, expand their frontiers of partnership, intensify more efforts in building their post graduate school as it will boost the Internally Generated Revenue of the institution as well as giving it more popularity.
Earlier in his address, the Vice Chancellor of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa, Prof. Temi Ologunorisa in his address appreciated the committee members for finding time to visit the institution, describing it as an honor.
Highlighting the achievements of Governor Akeredolu, Ologunorisa who revealed that the institution which was established in 2008 and was running only one facility suffered a great set back but experienced a great turn around under Governor Akeredolu.
He added that the institution experienced infrastructural development, increase in number of facilities and students, as well as making the institution a beneficiary of TETFund.
Stating his own achievements as well, Ologunorisa noted that he has made a dramatic impact since his assumption, changed the narrative of the universiy and also, maintained a stable academic calendar.
He stressed that the institution, partnering with OSOPADEC will soon have a maritime academy and would run shipping management, port management programs. He added that the institution have collaboration with different universities outside Nigeria.
He, however, pleaded with the committee to use their connection to bring investors to the institution.
