The Principal of Akure Secondary Commercial School, Mrs. Cecilia Funke Olokunlade, has commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for what she described as his commitment to raising the standard of education in Ondo State.
Mrs. Olokunlade expressed appreciation to God for the smooth resumption of the new academic session, noting that the long holiday was successfully concluded without hitches.
She lauded the Governor for creating what she called a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning, stressing that the state’s innovative policies in the sector are already transforming public schools.
“All necessary structures and systems have been put in place to ensure an effective take-off of the new academic term,” she said, describing the government’s education programmes as “game-changing initiatives that will add glamour and value to the entire system.”
Mrs. Olokunlade urged parents, teachers and students to remain committed to their roles, adding that collective responsibility was key to shaping a brighter future for the younger generation.
She disclosed that under her watch, promotion criteria in the school had been raised to encourage excellence among students.
“We raised the bar on academic standards not to make things difficult, but to bring out the very best in our students. They are rising to the challenge, and the results are promising,” she said.
The Principal assured that the school is fully prepared for a productive year, anchored on discipline, vision and a government determined to invest in education.
