Ondo Assembly calls on security agencies to ensure safe environment for property owners

Ondo State House of Assembly has called on law enforcement Agencies to swing into action and ensure a safe environment for all property owners and residents across the State.
This call was made at a plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji on Tuesday.
The Lawmakers warned land grabbers who engage in illegal occupation of landed properties to desist from such act or face the full wrath of the law.
Reading the resolution of the House, Oladiji reminded them that the Governor of Ondo State, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa had assented to the law prohibiting land grabbing after its passage by the House.
While expressing concern over the rampant cases of land grabbing in the State, the Speaker revealed that the House had received over 10 petitions on illegal occupation of landed properties across the State.
The House called on the Ministry of justice to expedite action by gazzeting the law that prohibits land grabbing in order to enhance the execution of the law by relevant authorities.
The House later constituted a 8- Man committee to look into the various petitions and report back within two weeks. The Chairman of the committee is Hon. Ololade Gbegudu while other members include: Hon. Moyinolorun Ogunwumiju, Hon. kolawole Ologede, Hon. Fayemi Obayelu, Hon. Raymond Daodu Oluwatoyin and Hon. Japhet Oluwatoyin, as Mr. Richard Adeyekun will serve as the secretary of the committee.
Earlier, the lawmaker representing, Ondo West Constituency 1, Hon Moyinolorun Ogunwumiju,had appreciated the Governor of Ondo State for giving assent to the law timely, stressing the need for urgent sensitization of the new law.
Also at the plenary, the lawmakers eulogised the Late Secretary to Ondo State Government, Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi who had been committed to mother earth.
The House Majority leader, Honourable Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi moved a motion for tributes by the lawmakers for late Oluwatuyi.
In his words, the lawmaker representing Akure South Constituency 2, Hon. Oluwarotimi Abitogun, described the Late Oluwatuyi as a man of peace with unwavering commitment to growth and development of Ondo State.
The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon Olamide Oladiji, however sympathized with the family of the deceased, the government of Ondo State and the people of Akure land over the irreparable loss.
The House, later observed a minute silence in honour of Late Temitayo Oluwatuyi.
