Ondo Assembly Charges Eateries, Shopping Malls On Hygiene

The Ondo State House of Assembly has charged eateries, shopping malls across the State to improve their hygiene and sanitation.

The Chairman, House Committee on Public Sanitation and hygiene, Hon. Tope Agbulu gave this charge while leading other Committee members on a familiarization visit to Akure shopping mall (Shoprite) and Captain Cook.

Agbulu noted that proper hygiene and sanitation is very important to their environment as people always come there to eat or buy something, stressing that if they do not have a clean environment, their customer’s health may be affected.

He, however, urged them to improve their hygiene and sanitation and always maintain a clean environment, especially their kitchen.

He acknowledged Governor Akeredolu’s efforts towards ensuring effective sanitation and hygiene.

Other committee members appealed to them to make their relationship with the House of Assembly and the society more cordial and work more on whatever they are doing, assuring them of the Assembly’s legislative backing.

Facility manager of Akure shopping mall, Mr Alade Adetunji, revealed that Akure shopping mall, a public – private partnership arrangement was established in 2015 and Ondo State Government is the major stakeholder, having 25% of the investment under the ONDIPA.

He added that there has been a cordial relationship between the shopping mall and the State Government, stressing that the mall has been on a reasonable level of hygiene and sanitation.

Speaking on behalf of Chief Executive Officer of Captain cook, Pastor Femi Oladapo, the operation manager, Mrs Tomilayo Ojo noted that the establishment has been much compliant and is being governed by Akure South Local Government, Environmental officers, Ministry of Health, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON).
