Ondo Assembly commits 33bn OSOPADEC budget to committee stage

The sum of thirty three billion for year 2025 budget of the Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC), has been committed to Committee stage after presentation by the Governor the State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to the State House of Assembly.

The bill appropriated the sum of thirty-three billion, eight hundred and sixty million naira (N33,860,000,000.00) only, out of which the sum of four billion, seven hundred and forty-seven million, six hundred and fifty thousand naira (N4,747,650,000.00) only, is for recurrent expenditure, while the balance of tweety-nine billion, one hundred and twelve million, five Hundred thousand naira (N29,112,500,000.00) only, is for capital expenditure for year 2025.

The State House of Assembly committed the bill to the Ad-hoc committee on OSOPADEC for proper scrutiny and to report back to the house after scaling through the second reading at a plenary presided over by the Speaker, Chief Olamide Oladiji.

Speaking, Hon. Allen Messiah, member representing Ese-Odo constituency, noted that the budget after being passed will boost the economy of the State and long way to improve the living standard of the people of the coastal Area, urging the committee to consider infrastructural facilities like schools, health centers.

Also speaking Hon. Chris Ogunlana, member representing Irele constituency noted that the budget this time, brought all the local governments in the area together.

In her own contribution, Hon. Olawumi Fayemi – Obayelu, representing Ilaje Constituency 1 appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa for bringing everybody together, adding that OSOPADEC has the mandate to bring development to the State. She added that the 2025 budget, when passed would bring more developmental projects in the mandate area,

Other lawmakers averred that their should be accountability and prudence for the mandate areas to get the best.

In the same vein, a bill for a law to amend the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, Ondo, Ondo State Law, 2019 scaled through first reading.
