The Ondo State House of Assembly has assured the management of the Ondo State Radiovision Corporation (OSRC) of its readiness to work closely with the broadcast outfit in promoting good governance and strengthening public communication.
The pledge was made during a familiarisation visit of the House Committee on Information to the corporation.
The Committee chairman, Hon. Olatunji Ifabiyi emphasized the legislature’s role in supporting the executive to achieve its set goals. He noted that with 24 out of 26 lawmakers now in the All Progressives Congress (APC), synergy between the arms of government has become even stronger. He assured that budgetary requests from OSRC would be given due attention, particularly in areas of publicity and technical development such as the planned connection to the Direct-to-Home Satellite Television Platform (DSTP), which he described as crucial for wider reach.
He urged the other management members to continue to support the Director General’s vision and developmental strides.
Other lawmakers who previously commended the reforms undertaken at OSRC, describing them as a “remarkable turnaround”.
They noted that despite having the same staff strength, the station had witnessed visible improvements under its current leadership.
The Lawmakers lauded Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for prioritizing the revitalization of the state-owned media, noting that effective publicity and communication remain essential tools in governance. They expressed confidence that with sustained collaboration, OSRC would continue on its path to becoming a stronger and more dependable voice of the state.
Earlier, the Director General, OSRC Media group, Mr Kenneth Odusola- Stevenson highlighted that significant progress has been recorded under his administration, including the installation of a new transmitter for Alalaye FM, rebuilding of offices destroyed by fire, resuscitation of the Lagos marketing office, restoration of staff welfare through promotions and clinic upgrades, and the extension of broadcast hours from 15 to 19 daily, among others.
Despite these strides, the DG lamented that the corporation is still battling with numerous challenges. Chief among them are obsolete and unserviceable broadcast equipment, some of which are over 25 years old; dilapidated building infrastructure due to an incomplete renovation project; and depleted manpower caused by retirements and resignations. He added that the working environment has contributed to staff attrition, though Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has approved fresh recruitments to strengthen the workforce.
He appealed for more support from the government and the legislature, requesting full implementation of its 2025 capital projects, release of funds to settle debts owed diesel suppliers, and the provision of more operational vehicles to boost coverage across the state.
The DG assured the lawmakers of its readiness to continue projecting the activities of the House of Assembly and the government, while working to modernize its services for greater efficiency.
