Ondo: FG trains, empowers 372 poultry farmers with chicks, feeds

The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMAFS), has trained and empowered no fewer than 372 poultry farmers with day-old chicks and feeds in Ondo State.

Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr Temitope Fasedemi, said the empowerment was part of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration’s Renewal Hope Agenda to enhance food security in the country.

Fasedemi, who was represented by the ministry’s Coordinator in the state, Mr Akeem Ogundeko, said that poultry farmers from four local government areas benefitted from the training and empowerment.

According to him, there is an emergency supply of day-old chicks, poultry feeds and zymes to the farming communities in Ondo West, Ondo East, Idanre and Ile-Oluji Local Government Areas in the state.

“327 poultry farmers were carefully selected, trained and empowered with 25 day-old chicks, three bags (25kg) of poultry feeds and one park zyme each.

“We have earlier trained and empowered poultry farmers in Ondo North and Ondo South with poultry feeds, day-old chicks, agrow chemicals/knapsack and power tiller,” he said.

Fasedemi, who promised government’s continuous support to farmers, urged farmers to make judicious use of the training and the farm inputs given to them.

The state Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Olayato Aribo, appreciated the federal government, saying the gesture would go a long way in assisting poultry farmers and increasing their productions in the state.

Aribo advised the beneficiaries to use the training experience to manage their birds and pass the information gathered to other farmers.

Two of the beneficiaries, Mrs Atinuke Darapale and Mr Akinmade Oladipupo, expressed happiness with the training, promising to make judicious use of it as well as the farm inputs. (NAN)
