In a bid to reduce the security challenges across the State, Governor Lucky Aiyedaiwa has prepared to fortify security operations across Ondo State by procuring mobility for security agencies.
He said “we will support our security agencies by providing tools for them, more importantly, vehicles for them to be able to move around to police the State”.
Governor Aiyedatiwa had earlier met with the Commanders of security agencies in the State, including the AIG, CP and Amotekun to discuss security challenges.
“One of the major challenges is the issue of mobility and we have decided that we will be buying vehicles for the security agencies for them to be able to move around, to support their work. Permanent Secretaries were also given some vehicles some months back, for them to be able to move around with ease.
He added that palliatives were given to the people to ease the effect of fuel subsidy, as shuttles were given to civil servants and students. “We have to support our people, especially in the area of mobility, to be able to move from one place to another and to also provide security for them, so that even in their movement, they should be able to be rest assured that their lives are safe while moving from one place to another”.
Meanwhile, Governor Aiyedatiwa also presented official vehicles to the Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji and his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Abayomi Akinruntan.
The vehicles were presented to the lawmakers at the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, Akure, on Monday.
According to him, the Speaker and his deputy were not given vehicles months back when other lawmakers were given. He also appreciated their patience.
He stressed that the vehicles were procured to ease the legislative duties of speaker and deputy speaker of the 10th Assembly.
Responding, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa for his kind gestures, stressing that it was unexpected.
He also commended him for keeping to his words. He reiterated the Assembly’s allegiance to the government and clarified that the vehicles would enhance their legislative responsibilities and foster stronger ties between the Assembly and other branches of government.
Present at the presentation were: Ondo State Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami, the SSG, Hon Tayo Oluwatuyi and Chief of Staff, Prince Segun Omojuwa.
