The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ondo State Council, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Idowu Ajanaku on his recent appointment and swearing-in as the Commissioner for Information and Orientation in Ondo State.
In a statement jointly signed by the State Chairman, Prince Leke Adegbite, and the Secretary, Comrade Olaoluwa Meshack, the union described Ajanaku’s appointment as a “round peg in a round hole,” commending Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for making a choice that reflects competence and media relevance.
The NUJ leaders expressed confidence in Ajanaku’s capacity, noting that his background as a seasoned journalist places him in a strong position to strategically harness the media landscape for the development of the state.
“We believe that Mr. Ajanaku, being a core media professional, will bring his wealth of experience to bear in advancing government communication, ensuring transparency, and fostering public enlightenment on policies and programmes,” the statement read.
The union also pledged its full support to the new Commissioner, assuring him of a seamless working relationship with journalists across the state.
“As always, the NUJ in Ondo State stands ready to collaborate with the Ministry of Information and Orientation in promoting an informed citizenry and a vibrant media-government relationship,” the union added.
The statement concluded by urging Ajanaku to strengthen ties with members of the pen profession to promote better service delivery and uphold the tenets of open governance.
Mr. Ajanaku’s appointment was among a new set of Commissioners inaugurated by Governor Aiyedatiwa as part of efforts to reposition the state’s executive arm for effective governance.
