Workers of the Ondo State House of Assembly have been charged to remain committed, diligent and responsive to their duties in order to ensure optimal performance and efficient service delivery.
The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Olamide Oladiji, gave the charge during a special prayer session held to mark the first working day of the year at the Assembly Complex in Akure.
Oladiji commended the staff for their resilience, professionalism and unwavering support, noting that their dedication has contributed significantly to the smooth conduct of legislative activities in the state.
The Speaker also expressed appreciation to the Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for approving the Consolidated Legislative Salary Structure (CONLESS) for staff of the House of Assembly, describing the decision as a landmark achievement that underscores the administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare.
According to him, the approval of CONLESS not only enhances staff motivation and productivity but also strengthens the legislature by reinforcing the principle of separation of powers through improved welfare for legislative workers. He assured the staff that their growth and wellbeing would continue to receive priority attention.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Clerk of the House, Barrister Benjamin Jaiyeola, urged staff members to sustain a positive work attitude in pursuit of shared institutional goals, assuring them that management would continue to recognise and reward hard work, efficiency and dedication.
He further charged the staff to discharge their duties with integrity, confidentiality and respect for constituted authority, stressing that their conduct at all times reflects the image and credibility of the House of Assembly.
In her exhortation, the General Overseer of Mountain of Blessing, Ondo, Prophetess Abigeal Ibitoye, encouraged the staff to remain grateful to God in all circumstances and to imbibe the virtues of humility and holiness, as exemplified by Jesus Christ.
She later led prayers for the Ondo State House of Assembly, the House of Assembly Commission, and the families of the Speaker and other lawmakers, while Pastor Kehinde Ojo offered prayers for the public servants of the Assembly.
The Bible reading for the event was taken from Psalm 100 and read by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Gbegudu Ololade.
The prayer session brought together Honourable Members and staff of the Ondo State House of Assembly as they committed the year 2026 into God’s hands, seeking renewed strength, wisdom and grace for the tasks ahead.
