The alleged looting of the ICU center donated to Ondo State by the RCCG has raised serious concerns and necessitates a thorough investigation. In 2021, the RCCG made a significant contribution to the Unimed Teaching Hospital Trauma Center in Ondo State by donating the largest intensive healthcare center. This center boasted various units, including the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), the Kidney Dialysis Unit, the Cardiac Diagnostic Unit, an x-ray unit, and a 30KVA generating set.

The generosity of the RCCG, executed through their charity arm, His Love Foundation (HLF), was acknowledged and celebrated during the inauguration of the ICU. The presence of Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akerodolu SAN, and the revered Osemawe of Ondo, His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo JILO III, marked the significance of this contribution to the healthcare infrastructure in the region.

Tragically, the ICU equipment, which was meant to save lives and enhance healthcare accessibility, has reportedly been looted and is no longer on the premises of the Unimed Teaching Hospital. Disturbing allegations suggest that certain senior staff members of the teaching hospital may have been involved in the theft, and have converted the equipment for personal use in their private hospitals.

These allegations gravely undermine the values of honesty, integrity, and accountability that we expect from healthcare professionals. The alleged misappropriation of such vital medical equipment raises serious concerns about the welfare of patients and the responsible utilization of donations.

Given the significance of the situation, it is imperative that an immediate and impartial investigation is launched. The authorities should thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the ICU equipment and hold accountable those responsible for any wrongdoing. Transparency and justice must prevail to restore faith in the healthcare system and ensure that such incidents are prevented in the future.

It is disheartening to witness noble acts of generosity being tainted by the actions of a few. However, by shedding light on the alleged looting and demanding a full investigation, we can help ensure that justice is served, and the intended purpose of the donated ICU center is realized for the benefit of the people of Ondo State.
