A Nigerian Pastor, Adebanjo Ezekiel has been assassinated on Wednesday, July 19th 2024 at Oba Ile his hometown, on his way to work by members of a cult he was once a member of before renouncing it.
The deceased who was the resident Pastor of Christ the Light Church before his death has been harassed and stalked by the assassins before he was killed.
Narrating her husband’s ordeal, his wife Mrs. Sefunmi Adebanjo disclosed how they had been recieving threats and harassment for the past three months through phone calls and visits to their home. She further explained that there was a time that her husband was mercilessly beaten and would have died if not for God’s intervention.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the mortuary for further investigation.

In another development, another Pastor Ogunmola James who used to be a member of the same cult in Oba Ile village also escaped from members of the cult disguised as kidnappers on the 15th of November 2023. A source who wants to remain anonymous explained that the victim whose whereabouts is unknown as at this time overheard his captors discussing him with someone on phone and then he realised that it was the cult that sent them to kidnap him. Luckily he was able to escape as he was left for dead by the roadside when an attempt to block a machete that was about to strike him on the head was blocked with his arm rendered him unconscious. The arm was severely injured in the process and the bone broken.
He later woke up in a hospital after a local hunter found him and brought him to safety. The doctor informed him that the police had visited the hospital to investigate the kidnapping. Fearing the cult’s influence over the authorities, the pastor fled the hospital and sought refuge with a native doctor, who treated his broken arm. During this time, the cult terrorized his church, scattering members and demanding information about his whereabouts. They also went to his village, searching for him and threatening those close to him.
As at the time of writing this report, every attempt to get the police command at Oba Ile to speak on the two incidents were unproductive.
