PDP members join APC in Ondo as Feyisayo applauds Aiyedatiwa’s victory

By Precious Oluwole

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikare Akoko, Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State, yesterday received a boost as 14 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) dumped the opposition party for the ruling camp.

Their defection was made known in a statement issued by Comrade Ade Fowowe, spokesperson to Hon. Feyisayo Ayodele, a frontline APC chieftain in the council area.

Welcoming the new members, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Mobilisation, Umar Abdulazeez Al-Amaam, urged them to throw their weight behind the party’s success in future polls.

He described Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as “a performer” whose administration deserves broad-based support.

Al-Amaam disclosed that the Governor would personally receive the defectors at a later date, stressing that “more opposition members will still join the ruling party.”

According to the statement, the PDP defectors openly pledged allegiance to the APC at the general meeting of One Voice Network, a caucus within the party.

In a related development, Hon. Feyisayo Ayodele congratulated Governor Aiyedatiwa on his Supreme Court victory, calling it “a triumph for democracy and the will of the people.”

He said the verdict had finally settled the legal tussle over the governorship election and urged all aggrieved parties to “accept the judgment in good faith and join hands with the Governor to move Ondo forward.”

Ayodele added that the victory was not just for the APC, but for “every resident of the state who desires peace, unity, and development,” while commending the judiciary for “upholding justice and reinforcing the confidence of Nigerians in the rule of law.”
