Regional Integration Commissioner, ONDIPA Unite to promote investment opportunities

In a bid to enhance collaboration and drive investment into Ondo State, the Commissioner for Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations (MRIaDR), Hon. Otunba Wale Akinlosotu, paid a familiarization visit to the Ondo State Development and Investment Promotion Agency (ONDIPA).

The meeting, which was aimed at understanding the responsibilities of both ONDIPA and the Ministry of Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations, marked a significant step towards fostering synergy between the Ministry and the agency.

During the meeting, the Commissioner emphasized the need for both government parastatals to work together to achieve their shared goals of promoting investment and development in the state. He highlighted the importance of the MRIaDR creating a database of potential diaspora investors, building relationships, and providing an enabling environment to attract investments into the state. Especially from expatriates.

The Commissioner commended ONDIPA for its efforts in pulling investments into the state and expressed optimism that the partnership between the two agencies would yield positive results. He also requested that ONDIPA consider ceding more office rooms to accommodate additional staff from the MRIaDR, to enhance their operational capacity.

In his remarks, the Acting Secretary of ONDIPA reintroduced the agency’s role as the investment arm of the state government and expressed willingness to collaborate with the Ministry of Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations. Both parties agreed to work together to drive investment into the state and explore opportunities for growth and development.

The meeting also touched on the SMART CITY project, which was discussed in detail. The Commissioner noted that the project was yet to commence due to internal technicalities but assured that a technical team which had received approval of the Governor of the State, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, would be inaugurated to revisit the project.

The Commissioner for Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations expressed gratitude to ONDIPA for hosting the meeting and pledged to work closely with the agency to achieve their shared goals. The meeting concluded with a resolution to reconvene and redesign the SMART CITY project, marking a new chapter in the partnership between the two agencies.

The visit demonstrates the Commissioner’s commitment to leveraging partnerships and collaborations to drive development and investment in Ondo State. With the potential for increased investment and growth on the horizon, stakeholders are optimistic about the prospects for the state’s economic future.
