RUGIPO reaffirms zero tolerance for misconduct, matriculates over 3,000 students

The Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO), has reinforced its stance on discipline and academic excellence as it matriculated over 3,000 students into various programmes for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The ceremony, marking the institution’s 32nd matriculation, was a significant milestone for the newly admitted students.

Speaking at the event, the Acting Rector, Mr. Olorunwa Simon Adegun, congratulated the students but strongly emphasized the need for discipline.

He warned against cultism, examination malpractice, and other forms of misconduct, stressing that the institution maintains a zero-tolerance policy for such vices.

Adegun cautioned students about negative peer influence, highlighting its potential to derail their academic journey.

With the first-semester examinations approaching, the Acting Rector reiterated the importance of diligence and adherence to examination rules.

He issued a stern warning against the use of mobile phones in examination halls, stating that any violation would attract severe consequences, including expulsion.

Adegun also expressed gratitude to Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for his unwavering support in repositioning the institution.

He commended the Governor’s directive for a convocation ceremony, the first in over a decade, as a major step towards improving academic and infrastructural development at RUGIPO.

The matriculation ceremony not only welcomed new students but also reinforced the institution’s commitment to upholding discipline, integrity, and academic excellence.
