He delivered the charge during the University’s 2025/2026 Academic Session 2-Day Orientation Programme held at the University’s auditorium.

Prof. Gbore reminded the students that Sam Maris University was founded on the principles of discipline, academic excellence, and moral integrity, and urged them to embody these values throughout their academic journey.

“Our University has zero tolerance for indiscipline and social misconduct. You are here to build a future that will speak for you. Avoid distractions and make good use of the state-of-the-art facilities provided for your academic growth,” he said.

The Registrar, Mr. David Daramola, reminded the students that obedience to University rules and regulations remains non-negotiable.

“Any student who violates the University’s laws will face appropriate sanctions. The orientation programme is designed to help you understand how the university operates – take it seriously,” he said.

In respect of guiding the students in observing their financial obligations to the University seamlessly, the Acting Bursar of the University, Mr. Oluwatoyin Orisamoyi, highlighted the importance of ensuring proper payment procedures.

He advised students to make all financial transactions through the university’s student payment portals to ensure transparency and accountability.

“Following the right payment channels protects you and the University. It also helps us maintain a system built on integrity,” he noted.

Other speakers at the orientation cautioned students against drug abuse, alcoholism, and other forms of misconduct that could derail their academic goals.

They urged the new intakes to stay focused, maintain healthy lifestyles, and make responsible use of technology and social media.

Participants were also encouraged to observe security measures, dress decently, and uphold the image of the university both on and off campus.

The orientation programme reflected Sam Maris University’s continued commitment to producing disciplined, innovative, and morally upright graduates.

With its emphasis on academic excellence and value-driven education, SMU continues to shape students into responsible leaders capable of making meaningful contributions to society.
