Traditional rulers laud Gov Aiyedatiwa’s leadership, pledge continued support for peace

By Precious Oluwole

Traditional rulers across Ondo State have expressed strong support for the leadership and developmental strides of the state governor, commending his commitment to peace, security, and inclusive governance.

The royal fathers made their stance known during a courtesy visit led by The Chairman, Ondo State Council of Obas, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye to the governor in his office on Wednesday.

Issues of traditional authority, domain stability, and state development were discussed.

Oba Ogunoye appreciated the Governor for his inclusive leadership style and respect for traditional institutions. “We acknowledge the efforts of Your Excellency in maintaining peace and development across Ondo State. You have carried us along, and we remain committed to supporting your administration in every way possible,” the chairman declared.

The monarchs pledged to continue playing their part in maintaining peace and order. They also lauded the Governor’s investment in security through the support of the Amotekun Corps, and ongoing efforts to bolster the presence of law enforcement across the state.

“We will continue to encourage our subjects to live in peace and obey the law. The stability of our domains is tied to the stability of the state”.

In response, the Governor praised the monarchs for their role in fostering community harmony, resolving local conflicts, and ensuring that traditional institutions remain partners in progress. He emphasized that the peace currently enjoyed in Ondo State is in large part due to the maturity and cooperation of the state’s traditional rulers.

“Our royal fathers are custodians of culture and community values. Your decision to remain within your domains and avoid land or boundary expansion has saved us from potential conflicts,” the Governor said. “Unlike in previous years when disputes among traditional rulers disrupted local peace, today we are witnessing a new era of unity and cooperation.”

The Governor also highlighted how the state government has consistently engaged the Council of Obas in matters affecting governance and community development. He noted that their input has been invaluable, particularly in addressing sensitive issues such as land disputes and community safety.

The Governor concluded by urging the traditional rulers to remain united and focused on the collective interest of the people. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working closely with the traditional institution, describing it as a critical partner in sustaining peace and promoting grassroots development.

“This partnership is not political; it is foundational. With your continued support, we will keep Ondo State peaceful, stable, and prosperous,” the Governor affirmed.

He also announced that in a few days time, additional operational vehicles will be given to the security operatives to enhance their work.
