We’re committed to infrastructure development: Ondo Govt

The Ondo State government says it is committed to improving the infrastructure development across the 18 local government areas.

The government assured Akure residents that the 7.8km Oda road project would be ready for inauguration in June 2025.

The senior special assistant to the governor on infrastructure, lands and housing, Olawoye Abiola, stated this in an interview with journalists on Sunday in Akure.

Mr Abiola said the total length of the road was 7.8km, and the dualised portion, being 4km, has been completed, while it remained 1km out of the 3.8km of the single carriageway.

According to him, with very good weather conditions, the road will be delivered on the set date.

He noted that there was variation on the road due to the current economic reality, especially as the road was awarded before the current administration.

The Oda road project was awarded during the first term of the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

“The single lane is about 11 metres wide, and that dual carriageway is about 9.3 metres wide on both sides.

“The contractor has completed the segment of the dual carriageway and is working right now on the single carriageway, which is 3.8km, and the contractor just has about 1km to complete the Oda road project as of today.

“I think within one month or two months the road will be ready for road users,” Mr Abiola said.

The SSA emphasised that the completion of the project was a top priority of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration.
