The Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association of Nigeria has congratulated the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency on the commissioning and official launch of the Cabotage Vessel Financing Fund application portal, describing it as a major step forward for the maritime industry.
In a statement signed by the President of WISTA Nigeria, Dr Odunayo Ani, the association lauded the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, and the Director General of NIMASA, Dr Dayo Mobereola, for providing leadership that has translated into a practical and impactful reform.
WISTA Nigeria said the launch of the portal represents a forward looking initiative aimed at improving transparency, easing access to funding and boosting confidence among industry stakeholders. According to the association, the development signals a renewed commitment to efficiency and inclusiveness within the marine and blue economy.
The group noted that the CVFF application portal addresses long standing concerns in the sector by modernising processes and creating clearer pathways for operators and investors to engage with the fund.
It commended both the ministry and NIMASA for their strategic vision and dedication to implementing solutions that respond directly to the needs of industry players, adding that the portal would help unlock new opportunities across the maritime value chain.
WISTA Nigeria further stated that the initiative aligns with broader efforts to strengthen stakeholder engagement and promote sustainable growth in the sector.
Reaffirming its position as an advocate for equity and professionalism, the association said women in the maritime ecosystem fully support reforms that promote innovation and fairness.
The group expressed optimism about continued collaboration with the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, NIMASA and other stakeholders towards building a more resilient, competitive and inclusive maritime sector in Nigeria.
