2026 world teachers’ day: VC commends AAUA teaching staff, welcomes ASUU Back to campus

The Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Prof. Tomola Obamuyi, has congratulated members of the University’s teaching staff on the occasion of the 2026 World Teachers’ Day, commending them for their resilience, dedication and stanch commitment to the advancement of the Institution.

Prof. Obamuyi, in his Goodwill Message to the academic staff, acknowledged the significant contributions of lecturers to the University’s academic mission, noting that their commitment to teaching, research, mentoring and community service remains critical to the attainment of the institution’s developmental objectives.

He said the annual celebration of World Teachers’ Day provides an opportunity to recognise and appreciate the invaluable role of teachers and lecturers in moulding individuals, developing human capital and contributing to national development.

While congratulating the academic staff on the celebration, Prof. Obamuyi charged them to remain committed to their duties and continue to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and excellence in teaching and learning.

Meanwhile, Prof. Obamuyi also welcomed members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), AAUA Branch, back to campus following the recent suspension of the union’s industrial action.

He expressed deep appreciation for their return and called for renewed commitment, cooperation and understanding among all stakeholders in the University community.

Prof. Obamuyi wished the University’s teaching staff a rewarding 2026 World Teachers’ Day celebration.
