Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has reaffirmed his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 polls.
The Ondo State Government has dismissed claims that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa is engaging in anti-party activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the allegations as false, misleading and a deliberate attempt to create unnecessary controversy.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the claims that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa is engaging in anti-party activities are false, misleading and a deliberate attempt to create unnecessary controversy.
The statement also said that the speculation stemmed from photographs showing Governor Aiyedatiwa with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Ondo Central Senatorial District, Senator Ayo Akinyelure, after a church service at the Government House Chapel.
It clarified that the Government House Chapel, like the mosque within the Government House premises, is a public place of worship open to all citizens, religious leaders and public officials, irrespective of political affiliation.
According to the statement, Senator Akinyelure attended the church service to worship and to personally appreciate the governor for sending a representative and goodwill message during his 70th birthday celebration last week.
It added that the visit was a normal act of courtesy and respect that should not be interpreted as a political endorsement.
The government also pointed out that Senator Ayo Akinyelure is the younger brother of Chief Pius Akinyelure, a prominent leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), an ally of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Chairman of the Governor’s Advisory Council in Ondo State.
Reaffirming the governor’s political stance, the statement stressed that Governor Aiyedatiwa remains fully committed to the APC and all its candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
It stated that the governor would continue to work with all party structures to ensure the APC records victory in every election across Ondo State.
The government urged APC members and the public to disregard what it described as the antics of mischief-makers seeking to sow discord within the ruling party.
It added that Governor Aiyedatiwa remains focused on delivering good governance and consolidating the achievements of the APC administration in Ondo State.
