2027: Youth Ambassador endorses Oladiji for Reps seat, calls for power shift to Ondo East

The race for the 2027 House of Representatives seat in Ondo East and West Federal Constituency gathered momentum on Monday as the Youth Ambassador of Ondo Kingdom, Comrade Felix Akinmoladun, popularly known as Fela Popo, formally declared his support for the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chief Olamide Adesanmi Oladiji.

In a statement issued on Monday, Akinmoladun described Oladiji, widely referred to as “Landmark”, as a responsive and accessible leader whose track record has endeared him to the people, particularly the youth across the kingdom.

He noted that the endorsement was not driven by political sentiment but by careful consideration of competence, character and proven performance, stressing that the constituency requires a representative who understands the needs of the people and acts decisively.

According to him, Oladiji has demonstrated exceptional legislative capacity as Speaker, successfully steering the affairs of the State Assembly and contributing to policies that have positively impacted residents of Ondo State.

The youth leader also highlighted the Speaker’s contributions to social welfare and empowerment, including facilitating pension payments for retirees and supporting employment opportunities for indigenes in the education and health sectors.

He added that Oladiji’s leadership style remains deeply rooted in grassroots engagement, noting that his direct connection with the people of Ondo East and West places him in a strong position to represent their interests at the National Assembly.

Akinmoladun further weighed in on the ongoing debate over zoning, calling for fairness and equity in the distribution of political offices within the constituency.

He argued that Ondo West had occupied the House of Representatives seat for over two decades and that it was equitable for Ondo East to produce the next representative in the spirit of justice and balance.

Describing Oladiji as both qualified and symbolic, he pointed out that the Speaker’s emergence as the first Ondo-born Speaker of the State Assembly had brought pride to the kingdom and positioned him as a credible voice for the constituency at the federal level.

He expressed confidence that Oladiji would prioritise youth employment, infrastructure development and security if elected into the Green Chamber.

The Youth Ambassador, therefore, called on stakeholders across the kingdom, including elders, women and youths, to rally support for the Speaker ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The future of Ondo Kingdom depends on the quality of representation we secure. This is a call for unity and collective action towards a more inclusive and prosperous constituency,” he said.

Observers say the endorsement signals growing political mobilisation among youths in the constituency as the 2027 election cycle gradually approaches.

The statement was dated April 13, 2026, and signed by Comrade Felix Akinmoladun, Youth Ambassador of Ondo Kingdom.
