Ondo NUJ, NAWOJ hold end-of-session party for journalists’ children

It was a moment of fun and excitement for journalists’ children as the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Ondo State Council, hosted an end-of-session holiday party at the NUJ Press Centre, Alagbaka, Akure, on Saturday.

The State Chairman of NUJ, Prince Leke Adegbite, in his address, said the initiative was organised to enable them to unwind after a rigorous academic session.

He urged them to make productive use of the holiday by behaving responsibly, assisting their parents with household chores, acquiring useful skills and preparing adequately for the next academic session.

Adegbite also encouraged the children to use the vacation to refresh themselves and engage in activities that would contribute positively to their personal and academic development.

 

In her welcome address, Chairperson of NAWOJ, Ondo State, Comrade Tola Gbadamosi, said the celebration was aimed at creating lasting memories of love, friendship, fun and togetherness among the children.

She urged them to remain obedient to their parents and guardians, stay security-conscious throughout the holiday and avoid activities or situations that could expose them to danger.

Also speaking, NAWOJ Vice-President, Zone B, Comrade Adeola Adekunle Omosola, commended the children for understanding the demanding nature of journalism and the busy schedules of their parents.

She encouraged them to continue making their parents proud by being well-behaved, responsible and committed to their studies.

The Mother of the Day, Mrs Damilola Oshin, advised the children to be respectful, God-fearing, obedient and supportive of their parents.

The educationist also encouraged them to devote part of the holiday to reading and other academic activities, stressing the need to strike a healthy balance between learning and relaxation.

The event featured a variety of fun-filled activities, while gifts were presented to the children at the close of the celebration.

The organisers appreciated parents, media executives and other well-wishers for their support and contributions towards the success of the programme.

The celebration ended on a joyful note as the children departed with smiles on their faces, gifts in their hands and cherished memories of a fun-filled day of laughter and friendship.

Dignitaries at the event included heads and representatives of media organisations, among which are; the General Manager of Radio Nigeria Positive FM, Akure, Mr Steve Omonagbe, represented by Mrs Bukola Bardi of the station’s News Department; the General Manager of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Akure, Mrs Olubunmi Oke, represented by the Head of News, Mrs Olubukola Aduwo; and the General Manager of Crest FM, Akure, Mr Godday Ighoteguono.
