Monarch reacts as indigene stabs student to death in Ondo

A student of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) has been stabbed to death by a yet-to-be-identified indigene of the University community.

The student simply identified as Akintola was said to have been stabbed after an argument over N1,000 ensued between Akintola and the suspect who is already at large.

The incident which happened in the early hours of Thursday has triggered unrest in the community, as a building owned by the relative of the fleeing indigene was burnt.

A source who preferred anonymity said “ I think there was an issue of money between the alleged culprit and the slain student. The case was reported to the police and it was settled this morning”

“But as the student left his apartment for the roadside, the assailant stabbed him; though he was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced clinically dead”

“His death angered students who set the suspect’s house ablaze”.

The spokesperson of the State Police Command, Funmilayo Odunlami Omisanya, confirmed the incident but said she was yet to get full details.

She further said that the deceased truly died in a hospital.

Meanwhile, the Monarch of the Community, the Alale of Akungba, Oba Isacc Sunday Adeyeye, Ajimo III, has called for restraint and public peace, as he advised the protesting students to eschew breakdown of law and order.
