Adekunle Ajasin University has recorded a major academic milestone as the National Universities Commission (NUC) granted full accreditation status to 20 of its academic programmes, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to quality education and academic excellence.
The approval was conveyed in a letter signed by the NUC Director of Accreditation, Engr. Abraham Chundusu, on behalf of the Executive Secretary.
The accredited programmes cut across six faculties, underscoring the university’s expanding academic capacity and growing national recognition.
In the Faculty of Administration and Management, Accounting, Banking and Finance, and Public Administration secured full accreditation.
The Faculty of Arts also recorded success with Linguistics and Yoruba, Philosophy, and Yoruba Language earning the same status.
The Faculty of Education led the pack with nine fully accredited programmes: Adult Education, Educational Management, Education Biology, Education Mathematics, Education Physics, Education Religious Studies, Health Education, Integrated Science, and Social Studies.
The Faculty of Law saw its flagship programme, Law, attain full accreditation, while in the Faculty of Science, Biochemistry and Geology were approved. Similarly, Geography and Planning Sciences, alongside Psychology, received full accreditation in the Faculty of Social Sciences.
Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Olugbenga Ige, commended the NUC for maintaining high standards in Nigeria’s university system.
He also praised members of staff for their dedication and resilience, assuring that the institution would continue to uphold excellence across all programmes.
The NUC periodically evaluates academic programmes in Nigerian universities to ensure compliance with established standards.
The latest accreditation exercise at AAUA, conducted between October and December 2025, has been described as a significant boost to the institution’s reputation and a source of pride for its community.
