The Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Prof. Tomola Obamuyi has expressed satisfaction and pleasure at the Admission Transparency and Inclusive Education Award confered on the Institution by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
It will be recalled that JAMB had earlier this month honoured 10 institutions in which AAUA was the only state-owned varsity on the honours list of awardees so recognised.
The Vice Chancellor noted that the honour reaffirmed AAUA’s position as the Best State University in the country and one of the leading names in knowledge, research, and community service on the continent, adding that it also attested to why graduates of the institution competently stand their own among their peers globally.
He said, “The significance of this award is multi-pronged: AAUA’s status as the only state university in the fold has again confirmed its undeniable position as the Best State University in Nigeria, a rating variously and serially confirmed by the United States Transparency International and the National Universities Commission.
“This is a recognition coming from a critical sector of the higher education ecosystem that admits the best for our Ivory Tower and we cherish the rating and the adulation. It speaks to the excellence, industry, and can-do spirit that make AAUA tick.
“The award is a testimony to our felicity to the vision of excellence of the Founding Fathers of our University and our resolve to sustain our mission to build a 21st Century University, properly called.”
While appreciating the Admissions Committee chaired by Prof Adebisi Olonisakin, the Vice Chancellor called on members of the university community to put in their best in order to sustain the tempo of excellence in all they do.
In his words, “This award also resonates with my vision to transform AAUA into a global hub of knowledge production and human development through sustainable excellence in academics, research and innovation.
“As we celebrate this worthy milestone, I urge us all to buy into our new vision to build steely bricks on the foundation that got us where we are.
“Prof. Olonisakin and his team have thrown us all a challenge: to bring award-winning mentality into our tasks and adopt the AAUA FIRST Strategy so that, together, we shall build the AAUA of our dream. “
