In a continued effort to mobilise the collective support of stakeholders towards the realisation of the developmental aspirations of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, the Vice-Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. Tomola Obamuyi, on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, paid a visit to some political office holders who are alumni of the University serving in the Ondo State Government.
The meeting, held at the office of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, was attended by Takuro; the Commissioner for Water Resources and Public Sanitation, Hon. Ayodele Samson Akande, FCA; Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Tob Loko; and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Communication and Strategy, Mr. Allen Sowore.
Addressing the alumni, Prof. Obamuyi expressed appreciation for their willingness to receive him and his team to engage with the University on matters of mutual interest.
He emphasised the critical role of alumni in the growth and advancement of any institution, noting that universities around the world rely significantly on the contributions, goodwill and influence of their alumni to achieve their developmental objectives.
“No institution in the world can attain its full potential without the input and support of its alumni. That is why we are here. The University needs your support in all ramifications,” he said.
The VC stressed that the engagement was not merely about soliciting financial and development assistance but about building a sustainable relationship through which alumni could contribute their expertise, networks, influence and goodwill to the advancement of their alma mater.
Responding individually and collectively, the political appointees, who are proud alumni of AAUA, pledged their support for the University and assured the VC of their readiness to leverage their respective positions, experience and networks for the development of the institution.
They expressed appreciation to Prof. Obamuyi for initiating the engagement, describing the initiative as a timely and commendable step towards strengthening the bond between the University and its alumni.
The alumni further expressed their willingness to collaborate with the University in areas that would contribute meaningfully to its growth, visibility and overall development.
They commended the VC for recognising the strategic importance of the alumni community and for taking deliberate steps to reconnect the University with its products who are making significant contributions across various sectors of society.
