…as BOA MD lays father to rest
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), Mr Ayo Sotinrin, on Friday laid his father, Engineer David Sotinrin, to rest, as Ondo and Ogun State Governors, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and Prince Dapo Abiodun, joined family, friends and associates to honour the deceased.
The funeral service, held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Abeokuta, Ogun State, drew dignitaries from across the country, with tributes highlighting the late engineer’s exemplary life of discipline, intellect and dedication to family.
In an emotional tribute, Ayo Sotinrin described his father as an exceptional man whose life was worthy of emulation, noting that he was not only accomplished in his engineering career but also deeply committed to the wellbeing of his family.
According to him, the late Sotinrin placed high value on education and ensured his children had access to the best opportunities, a foundation he said shaped his life and career.
“He was a family man who loved and united everyone. He ensured we maintained strong bonds and instilled in us values of discipline, kindness and devotion to God,” he said.
He added that although his father passed on at the age of 85, the family remains grateful for a fulfilled life marked by impact and purpose.
Governor Aiyedatiwa, in his remarks, described the late engineer as a man who lived a life of impact, faith and humility, noting that his long years reflected divine grace.
He said tributes from the family portrayed him as a loving husband and devoted father whose legacy is evident in the lives he touched, particularly his son, whom he described as resilient and grounded in faith.
The governor urged the family to celebrate the deceased’s life and uphold the values he represented.
Similarly, Governor Abiodun described the late Sotinrin as a man of exemplary character who lived a purposeful and impactful life.
He called on the family to sustain his legacy of selflessness and service, stressing that such values remain vital for future generations.
In his sermon, the Vicar of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Egba Diocese, Venerable S.K. Oyewale, reminded the congregation of the transient nature of life, urging them to live righteously and make meaningful impact.
He noted that the life of the deceased reflected service to humanity, adding that all individuals would one day give account of their deeds before God.

The service featured prayers and final tributes from family members, with the widow, Mrs Falake Sotinrin and the children leading the final rites.
