Aiyedatiwa Pledges More Support For State-owned Institutions

The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has pledged to provide all necessary support for the state-owned Tertiary Institutions in the State.
Governor Aiyedatiwa made this promise while receiving members of the Governing Councils of University of Medical Sciences, Ondo (UNIMED), Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa (OAUSTECH) and Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), in his office on Tuesday.
He stressed that the Tertiary Institutions’ contributuons to the society cannot be over emphasized most especially in the area of human capital development.
He also solicited for support and collaboration that Late Governor Akeredolu enjoyed.
Earlier in his address, the Pro – Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of UNIMED, Prof. Ayodele Arowojolu commiserated with Governor Aiywdatiwa over the demise of Late Akeredolu, describing his death (Akeredolu) as a loss.
While appreciating the Governor for the release of fund for the Faculty of pharmacy of the institution, Arowojolu pleaded for more support on projects, stressing that a lot of commissioning are on the way.
The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof Adesegun Fatusin appreciated the Governor’s commitment to the institution’s, appealing to him to look into their critical issues.
He added that the institution will be producing the first set of Doctors in Nigeria at the convocation ceremony of the institution in few days time.
The Chairman, Governing Council, OAUSTECH, Prof. Akinbo Adesomoju pleaded with the Governor to follow the footsteps of late Akeredolu towards the development of the institution ranging from the School of Science structure which have been abandoned since 2010, School of I.C.T among others.
The Vice Chancellor, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, said that the reason for the visit was to identify with Governor Aiyedatiwa and to condole with him over the demise of Late Akeredolu.
He appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa’s efforts and commitment in repositioning the educational status in the state within a short period of time that he assumed office as the Governor of Ondo State.
