Call for Action: APFFLON President Urges Sanctions Against Webb Fontaine for Port Server Failures

By: Joy Enamuna

The President of the Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON), Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, has called on the federal government to urgently implement sanctions aimed at deterring Webb Fontaine due to frequent server failures at ports.

Ogunojemite emphasized the need for these sanctions to help freight forwarders and shippers recover losses incurred during customs clearing procedures amidst network breakdowns.

Speaking on behalf of freight forwarders at the opening ceremony of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) Training and Doctrine Capacity Building Programme Zone ‘A’ Declarant workshop, Otunba expressed concern over the burden placed on shippers and freight forwarders due to the inefficiencies of Webb Fontaine, resulting in accumulated demurrages.

He also highlighted the impact of government physical and monetary policies on the industry.
