Gov. Aiyedatiwa bids Akintelure farewell, praises his exemplary life

Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Friday, attended the funeral mass of Late Dr. Paul Akintelure, a former APC gubernatorial aspirant, on Friday. The ceremony took place at the St. Pius Catholic Church in Igbotako, Okitipupa Local Government Area.

Aiyedatiwa remarked that the gathering was not to mourn but to celebrate the remarkable life of Akintelure, highlighting his significant contributions to Igbotako. While acknowledging the loss felt by all, he emphasized that it was a gain for God, as the departed soul was precious in His eyes.

Aiyedatiwa praised Akintelure’s exemplary life, citing his profession as a medical doctor, his role as a community leader, and his endeavors in politics. He emphasized Akintelure’s impact on countless lives through his medical practice and his service to humanity.

Expressing personal condolences as a fellow member of the same political party, Aiyedatiwa acknowledged the desire for Akintelure to remain among them, but accepted God’s timing. He concluded by offering prayers for longevity, especially for the children left behind, and for God’s consolation upon the immediate family.

Earlier In his sermon, Rev. Fr. Clement Odia, urged those gathered to strive for lives marked by meaningful impact and positive influence on others. He eloquently portrayed the late Akintelure as not only a loving family man but also as someone deeply committed to assisting others whenever the opportunity arose.

The cleric emphasized the importance of embodying the virtues of generosity and compassion, traits exemplified by the deceased. Additionally, he earnestly appealed to the children of the departed to honor their late father’s legacy by embracing and perpetuating the noble principles and values he upheld throughout his life.

Dr. Akintade Akintelure, representing the family of the deceased, conveyed heartfelt appreciation to everyone who stood by them during this challenging period. He humbly requested continued prayers for the family’s strength to endure these difficult times.

Akintade fondly remembered his father, Dr. Paul Akintelure, as a man of unwavering integrity, emphasizing that he remained steadfast in his principles regardless of the circumstances.

Prominent among the dignitaries at the service included some APC Aspirants in the just concluded primary election, Chief Olusola Oke and Prince Diran Iyantan, former NMA President, Prof Dayo Faduyile, the immediate past commissioner for education, Femi Agagu among others.

Dr Paul Akintelure died in March 26, 2024 at the age of 61.
