ODHA Confirms Aremo As ODIEC Chairman

Ondo State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Dr Joseph Igbekele Aremo as the Chairman, Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC).

The appointment was confirmed on Thursday March 2, at a plenary presided over by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun.

The confirmation followed reports from the screening committee, presented by the Deputy speaker, Rt. Hon. Samuel Aderoboye.

Aderoboye said the nominees responded to all questions raised by the Committee in very eloquent and explicit order, noting that they have a clear understanding of ODIEC. He also added that they possess the required academic qualifications, they are physically, mentally and emotionally stable and fit to accomplish the challenges on the position as the chairman and members of ODIEC.

The report also stated that they possess the required experiences, Charisma and the much needed exposure to their function effectively.

The majority leader of the House, Hon. Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi moved the motion for the report to be considered and the nominees be confirmed and was seconded by Hon. Mohammed Taofik.

The speaker, Oleyelogun who ruled for the confiramtion and congratulated them, urged them to put in their best to make a difference.

In his response, the ODIEC Chairman, Dr Joseph Igbekele Aremo appreciated Governor Akeredolu for nominating them as chairman and members of ODIEC, he also appreciated the lawmakers for the efforts they have put in place during their screening and confirmation.

Aremo, however stated that it is a dawn of a new era, stressing that he and his members are ready to serve. He promised not disappoint the people of Ondo State and the honorable house.

In the same vein, the House also confirmed the appointment of the immediate past Chief Justice of Ondo State, Hon. Justice Williams Akintoroye as the Chairman Ondo State Public Complaints, Financial Crime and Anti-Corruption Commission.
