Ondo Speaker To Assembly Workers: Be More Dedicated To Work

The speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun has called on House of Assembly workers to be more dedicated and committed to work as an employee of Government to move the State forward in various capacities.

He made the call while addressing the Assembly members at the annual prayer meeting which took place at the Assembly Complex.

“it is important to appreciate the Almighty God for sparing our lives throughout the preceding year. No doubt, year 2022 was a though year but despite the challenges we faced in the course of the year, we were made worthy to be counted among the living souls today”.

While appreciating the Honourable members, Staff of the Assembly and Commission for their unflinching loyalty, dedication, support and cooperation the leadership of the House enjoyed throughout the outgone year 2022, the speaker solicited for a more robust and harmonious working relationship.

“Year 2022 was a remarkable one in the anal of history of this Honourable House as we were able to record unprecedented achievements on both human and capital development. I must equally commend the number one Civil servant of the Assembly for his effort and passion on ensuring that the welfare of staff remains paramount during his administration”.

“I want to assure you all that with his leadership style of the Ondo State House of Assembly will soon become the cynosure of all eyes in Ondo State Public Service. In the area of capacity building, we have been able to ensure that over 80% of Ondo State House of Assembly Staff had participated in various training within and outside the State”.

The speaker assured the staff that before the expiration of the tenure of the ninth (9th) Assembly, the leadership of the House will continue to strive and prioritize Human Capacity Building in ensuring optimal performance of our Staff so that they will be well prepared and comfortably compete favourably with their contemporaries across the Country, just like the saying “if you don’t train them, don’t blame them”.

He uged them to harness the ample opportunity in maximizing their potentials so that the State Government will also have value for the fund invested in their capacity building.

Oleyelogun appreciated Governor Akeredolu for the approval of Staff into various categories officers in the Ondo State House of Assembly in the outgone year.

He also appreciated the Honourable members, Staff of the Assembly and Commission for their unflinching loyalty, dedication, support and cooperation the leadership of the House enjoyed throughout the outgone year 2022, the speaker solicited for a more robust and harmonious working relationship.

Meanwhile, earlier in his address, the Clerk of the House, Barr. Benjamin Jaiyeola appreciated God Almighty for His mercies over everyone and for all He did for everyone in 2022. He said “There were challenges but we’re grateful for seeing this year because many are dead”.

He also appreciated the speaker and the leadership of the House of Assembly on behalf of the staff for his fatherly role in 2022 and for not treating them the way they behave.

“God has been good to us through the leadership of this House, the speaker has been so workers friendly, we got an approval to fill 30 vacancies and casual staff who had been working in the house over the years were considered”.

“Despite the scarcity of funds, our calenderised programs didn’t stop, there were trainings for staff, what has never happened, did in 2022, we got outfit allowances for 2020 and 2021, the speaker made sure that even those who are dead or retired, their next of kin were contacted for their benefit”.

While appreciating the House of Assembly Service Commission for their harmonious relationship, Jaiyeola charged the staff of the House to shun the habit of coming late, be diligent, be up and doing in the course of carrying out their assignments.

In his sermon titled “correct yourself from the mistake of others”, Rev. Pastor Peter Akinrujomu stated that people should not wait until evil happens before they learn.

He added that the scripture was written for people to learn from it and anyone who doesn’t learn from the scripture is a fool. “You should learn from the mistake of others and your personal mistakes, correct yourself from the mistake of your past”, he said.

The prayer meeting featured praise and worship, prayer for the state, house of Assembly members and commission, Bible reading by the speaker of the house.
