The commanding officer in charge of Ondo State chapter of Tantita Security Services, Senior High Chief Idowu Asonja, has felicitated the Niger Delta Leader and the former Nigerian militant commander of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, on his conferment with a Honourary Doctorate Degree.

The Nigeria Maritime University (NMU) last Saturday, had conferred Tompolo with a Honoris Causa in Philosophy of Education, among other distinguished Nigerians, at its maiden convocation ceremony.

In his reaction to this development, Senior High Chief Asonja during a media chat on Monday in Akure, Ondo State Capital, said Tompolo’s name is synonymous with honour, patriotism and responsibility. He also added that Tompolo is a man whose life is defined by self-sacrifice and struggle for justice.

“He a detribalised patriot who cares for all irrespective of ethnic, religious, political or economic inclinations. The honourary Doctorate Degree is only deserving and an affirmation of our confidence in Tompolo as a rare leader.

“His life is driven by self,-sacrifice andmp relentless pursuit of Justice for all. His name is synonymous with honour, patriotism and responsibility. The honour is heartwarming and I believe that it is earned. Asonja said.
