The Nigeria Customs Service, Apapa Area Command, has set a new revenue record after collecting N28.1bn in a single day.
The command generated N28,102,000,914.61 on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, its highest-ever daily revenue collection, surpassing the previous record of N20.1bn achieved in September 2025.
The latest feat came barely weeks after the command announced a monthly revenue record of N323bn in July 2026.
The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, attributed the sustained revenue growth to improved compliance, trade facilitation, intelligence-driven operations and greater efficiency in the Service’s digital processes.
Oshoba said the achievement should not be viewed merely as a revenue figure, stressing that funds generated by the Customs Service contribute to the resources available to the government for infrastructure, security, education, healthcare and other public services.
He dedicated the latest milestone to the Federal Government and Nigerians while commending the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the management of the Service for their support for automation, modernisation and reforms aimed at improving Customs operations.
The CAC also acknowledged the contributions of compliant importers, exporters, licensed customs agents and other stakeholders, including Nigerians who provide useful intelligence to the Service.
He urged stakeholders to continue supporting legitimate trade, noting that increased revenue gives the government greater capacity to meet the needs of citizens and create a favourable environment for businesses.
Oshoba, however, cautioned officers and men of the command against complacency, urging them to regard the new record as a call to greater responsibility.
He directed personnel to maintain professionalism, transparency and respect for stakeholders while ensuring that legitimate disputes are resolved promptly and lawful businesses are not subjected to unnecessary delays.
The Apapa Area Command said it would sustain efforts to improve revenue collection, facilitate legitimate trade and strengthen collaboration with stakeholders, stressing that every compliant transaction contributes to national development.
Isah Sulaiman, Chief Superintendent of Customs and Public Relations Officer of the Apapa Area Command, signed the statement on behalf of the Customs Area Controller on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
