Members of the National Assembly Primary Election Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have commended the peaceful and transparent conduct of the party’s primary election in Ondo State, expressing satisfaction with the orderly process witnessed across monitored wards.
The committee members gave the commendation while monitoring the exercise in parts of Akure South and Akure North Local Government Areas of the state.
Speaking at Oke-Aro/Irowo 2, Ward 9 in Akure South Local Government Area, Chairman of the committee, Hon. Iboroma Harry Dabibi, urged party members to maintain peace and conduct themselves responsibly throughout the exercise.
Dabibi warned against violence and actions capable of causing tension, stressing that the success and credibility of any election depended largely on a peaceful atmosphere.
“There should be no violence. If there is no peace, there will be no winner,” he said.
The committee chairman explained that members of the panel were deployed to ensure the exercise remained free, fair and transparent across the state.
“We are committed to free and fair election, that is why we are here”.
He also commended party members for their discipline and maturity during the exercise, noting that the committee was impressed with the conduct of voters at the polling centre.
“We appreciate you for conducting yourselves well. We are impressed with what we have seen. It is by choice and once the result is accepted by all, the aspirant with majority votes carries the day”.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Akure South Local Government Area, Dr Gbenga Fasua, described the peaceful atmosphere witnessed in the ward as a reflection of the situation across the council area.
According to Fasua, the orderly conduct displayed by party members was the same pattern observed in all the 11 wards in the local government.
“This is just the template of what you will see across the 11 wards,” he said.
Similarly, the Chairman of Akure North Local Government Area, Johnson Ogunbolude, while speaking during the monitoring exercise at Moferere Ward 8, Iju, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of party members and the smooth nature of the primary election process.
