Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, is set to host over 200 women leaders from across the state at the Ondo State Women Round Table Discussion as part of activities marking one year of the administration’s women-focused interventions through the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
The event, themed “The O’Datiwa Women Initiative Blueprint and Deliverables: Journey So Far… Charting a Better Pathway for Excellence and Transformative Women Programmes,” will serve as a strategic platform to review the achievements of the Ministry over the past year, strengthen collaboration among women leaders, and develop practical strategies for advancing women empowerment and social development in Ondo State.
According to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Seun Bosede Osamaye, the round table will bring together elected and appointed female public office holders, heads of female support groups, strategic female stakeholders, leaders of women-led non-governmental organisations, female political groups, religious and socio-political organisations, heads of female persons with disabilities (PWDs) and vulnerable groups, as well as female heads of schools, boards, agencies, and government parastatals.
Dr. Osamaye explained that the gathering, with the slogan “One Platform, 200 Women, Impactful Conversations,” is designed to celebrate the milestones recorded by the Ministry under the leadership of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and the support of the First Lady of Ondo State, Mrs. Esther Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, while providing an avenue for participants to exchange ideas and formulate innovative approaches to enhancing women’s participation in governance and accelerating inclusive development.
A major highlight of the event will be the official unveiling of the O’Datiwa Women Initiative News Bulletin, an annual publication of the Ondo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development. The publication will showcase the Ministry’s key programmes, milestones, and achievements in promoting the welfare and empowerment of women, children, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups. It will also serve as a directory of agencies and boards under the Ministry.
The round table discussion will feature interactive sessions, networking opportunities, cultural performances, games, and the presentation of gifts to participants.
The Commissioner noted that participation is free, adding that interested participants are encouraged to register ahead of the event.
The Ondo State Women Round Table Discussion is expected to reinforce the state’s commitment to inclusive governance, women empowerment, and sustainable social development while charting a stronger pathway for future programmes that will improve the lives of women and vulnerable populations across the state.
