NAGAFF President reads Riot Act to Newly constituted Task Team

The National President of Government Approved Freight forwarders (NAGAFF), Chief Fwdr.Ezisi Tochukwu, has said that the association would not hesitate to deal ruthlessly with any đź’Ż% Compliance Task Team member found wanting.

The President who was speaking at the event which took place at NAGAFF headquarters in Apapa Lagos, said due to some operational charllenges the Association, after a meeting held on the 1st of December,2022 decided to change the name of the team from 100% Compliance Team to100% Compliance Task Team.

Fwdr. Ezisi who took the categorically said” the primary aim for the reconstitution is to achieve a strong synergy between the national and chapter chairmen” In which both are working for a common goal of the association, but importantly the aim is to build a strong and mutually, unifications and cordial relationship as one big family.

Although, there are issues still confronting the Team in efficient and effective delivery of their core mandates and as a result , NAGAFF headquarter has reviewed the problems and reconstituted the operational structure of the team”.

According to him, ” I instructed each chapter chairman to nominate 5 NAGAFF members from their respective chapters and the National Coordinate, Alhaji Tanko Ibrahim would nominate 5 members in each chapter while the national headquarter of NAGAFF will nominate 5 members from each chapter.
The nominations translated to total of 15-member nonresident intervention committee for each chapter.

The 15-member nonresident intervention committee has automatically replaced all existing compliance team at the chapters henceforth and their role will be on ad hoc bases at the instance of the national president, upon written request by the chapter chairman”.

Since inception 3 years ago, the 100% Compliance Team had been an active eye of the association in checking corruption at the ports by ensuring that ideal customs and trade procedures are practiced at the port terminals, boarder stations and bonded facilities across Nigeria.

Before now, the primary aim of establishing the Team was first constituted in 2020 and empowered was to ensure that Importers, Freight Forwarders, Customs officers, shipping companies, and terminal operators are compliant to good practices at the port”.

While commending the efforts of the coordinator, ” Today, the achievements of NAGAFF through the 100% Compliance Team can never be overemphasized, especially under the leadership of Alhaji Tanko Ibrahim”

Also speaking, the Deputy vice President of NAGAFF, Chief Simeon Nwonu while speaking on behalf of founder, Dr.Boniface Aniebonam said the founder saw this vision and understood the character of freight forwarders adding that the new compliance Task Team should work with high sense of discipline and responsibility, be a good ambassadors of NAGAFF.

In the same vain the Registrar of NAGAFF Academy, Fwdr.Francis Omotosho urged the newly constituted members to as a matter of urgency get themselves involved in training and would be an added advantage.
