The current Tin Can Island Chapter Chairman of National Association of Government Approved Frieght Forwarders (NAGAFF), Fwrd.Emeka Chigozie has expressed total dissatisfaction, embarrassment and lackadaisical attitude Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Alhaji Bello Koko towards Tin Can Island port.

The Chairman who alleged that MD is wasting government funds in renovating NPA officers instead of first attending to key areas like quary aprons to avoid diversions of ships, is also of the opinion that Federal Government is playing politics with TinCan port.

Speaking to Trace News Magazine today at his Apapa, Lagos office, the NAGAFF Chaiftain lamented bittely on how him and some members lost a full load of container ship, was diverted. Stating that it has been a re- occurring decimal which FG has been paying lips service to only interested in collecting revenue.

“Tin Can Island and Apapa ports are among the bestest container ports that generate trillions of dollars on a monthly bases for Federal Government through the government agencies inside the ports like Nigerian Customs Service (NCS)”.

“The most vital part of the port is collapsing and NPD MD is spending billions of niara on perimeter fencing, in June 2022 requested for #600 million dollars for reconstruction of Tin Can Island port. In April 2023, he increased it to #800 million dollars. How did he arrived at that figure?

“Is it the government that didn’t approve #600 million dollars that will now approved #800 million dollars for reconstruction?. It clearly ovious that Federal Government is politicing with Tin Can Island port. “The same MD that says no money spent billions of niara to host security meeting at Eko hotel last month. Outside series of ‘overseas work visit’. Adding we are help less at the moment at Tin Can.
