Dr. Femi Akinkuebi, an industrialist and prominent member of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, has urged the party to ensure fairness, inclusiveness, and proven competence guide the upcoming nomination for the Ondo East/West Federal Constituency House of Representatives seat.
In a statement addressed to stakeholders, Akinkuebi stressed that the APC must remain true to its principles while making decisions that strengthen internal unity and ensure effective representation.
“Our party stands for progress, fairness, inclusiveness, and leadership driven by capacity. These values should guide our choices at every stage,” he said.
He highlighted that Ondo East hosts individuals with demonstrated leadership and legislative experience, which he described as vital for impactful governance.
“At this crucial juncture, Ondo East offers a strong case for representation. Beyond equity considerations, it is clear that the area has individuals with tested leadership skills and proven legislative experience,” Akinkuebi noted.
He added that the availability of candidates who already understand governance and parliamentary responsibilities positions Ondo East advantageously.
“We have aspirants who are not novices; they know governance, legislative procedures, and the demands of representation. This experience should not be overlooked when effective representation is essential,” he stated.
While recognizing capable contenders from Ondo West, Akinkuebi called on the party to balance merit with fairness and inclusiveness.
“Although Ondo West has competent aspirants, our party must weigh competence alongside equity and make strategic decisions that uphold fairness and inclusiveness,” he said.
He further urged APC leaders and stakeholders to approach the nomination process responsibly, with foresight and attention to unity.
“Ondo East has shown commitment, growth, and readiness. Considering equity now will strengthen party unity and ensure long-term cohesion,” Akinkuebi emphasized.
He concluded by reiterating his commitment to progressive governance, urging decisions that reflect both fairness and competence for the overall development of the constituency and the state.
“Let us make choices that balance capacity and fairness, and that ultimately advance the development of Ondo East/West and Ondo State as a whole,” he said.
The statement comes as the party continues consultations ahead of its selection process for the House of Representatives ticket in the constituency.
