Deji of Akure, Oba Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, CFR, has vowed that the old students of Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure (OGSA) would continue to support the school.

He made this known while receiving the students, staff and Old students of OGSA in his palace on Monday, 23rd of January, 2023. Oba Aladelusi noted that that the anniversary is worth celebrating as the school has been in existence for 70 years.

“I am a product of that school and the school has helped me, it’s time for me to give back to my alma mater. I also appreciate the old students for giving back to the school”.

“We will continue to support the school, the government can’t do it alone, and I’ll encourage the students too, after their graduation, they should emulate the old students, to give back to the school when they grow up”.

The monarch also appreciated the president of the old students association, Dr. Niyi Ijogun for being a good leader. “The old students haven’t done enough, we will continue to do more”, he said.

Dr. Ijogun, in his response, expressed his appreciation to the monarch for taking out time from his busy schedules to join the members of the school community on about 3km walk to mark the opening day of the week-long activities.

He said the school has produced prominent citizens in different fields, and these men are doing the nation proud. According to him, Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure remains the only school that stands out when it comes to academics, sporting activities and other extra-curricular programmes.

Ijogun said the 70th Anniversary celebration is worthwhile, and it marks a new beginning for greater accomplishments.
